Billie Joe Armstrong Suggests Green Day Will Cover Taylor Swift At AMAs

Green Day is seemingly taking Taylor Swift's side in her battle against her ex label, Big Machine Records, and industry titan Scooter Braun, who acquired her back catalog of master records and has reportedly prevented her from singing her old hits at the 2019 AMAs.

On Thursday (November 21), Bille Joe Armstrong, 47, hinted that the rock vets will cover Swift's massive hit, "Bad Blood" at the upcoming ceremony by sharing a photo via Instagram Story with handwritten lyrics to the 2015 single. "AMA rehearsal," Armstrong captioned the shot on the band's account. "Cause baby now we got bad blood/ You know we used to be mad love/ So take a look what you’ve done/ Cause baby now we got bad blood," the sheet read.

Previous to the post, a source told Page Six that Swift was enlisting support from her famous friends for her performance. "Taylor will turn her AMA performance into a huge moment, and a powerful message. We are expecting to see artists such as Selena [Gomez] join her on stage as part of a fierce show of female artistic strength and empowerment," the insider explained. In addition to performing, Swift to set to receive the Artist of the Decade accolade from the ceremony.

Armstrong's post comes around the same time that Braun went public with his version of events, telling his followers that he, as well as his family and team, have received death threats since Swift shared her side of the story. "Since your public statement last week there have been numerous death threats directed at my family," he wrote. "This morning I spoke out publicly for the first time saying I wouldn't participate in a social media war. However, I came home tonight to find my wife had received a phone call threatening the safety of our children, as well as other threats."
