People In Relationships Watch Way More TV Than When They Were Single

If you feel like you started watching way more TV once you entered a relationship, you're probably right. According to a study conducted by All Home Connections, binge-watching TV is a popular pastime for most couples.

All Home Connections surveyed 1,000 people in relationships and asked them questions about their TV habits since being in a relationship, both during quarantine and overall. Thirty-one percent of respondents say they believe they watch more TV when they're in a relationship than when they were single. Respondents say they watch TV with their partners for a variety of reasons, including 33% stating it "merely gives them something to do." Another 28% of respondents in a relationship say they watch TV with their significant others because it’s an activity that "doesn’t require them to leave the house or spend money."

The study also found that those who watch TV with their partners tend to watch significantly more TV genres now than when they were single. This tends to be more true for women, as well, with 58% percent of women responding that they've expanded their TV-genre horizons. Only 42% of male respondents, on the other hand, feel they've tried new genres while watching TV with their significant others. Comedy was the most popular genre among all the respondents.

The downside of binge-watching TV with your partners, however, is that deciding what to watch may lead to disagreements. According to All Home Connections' study, almost 60% of taken male respondents claim they fought with their S.O. over what to watch more during the pandemic.
